KWE 2021
For the 2021 edition, we have adapted the program of KWE in order to pursue our mission while respecting public health guidelines.
In 2021, KWE was held as an exhibition at Place Jean Béliveau at ExpoCité. The choice of Place Jean Béliveau was motivated by its central location and its capacity to accommodate 15,000 visitors on site while respecting the health and physical distance measures in effect because of the pandemic.
KWE had a significant digital segment. Visitors had access to a range of activities, skills videos and musical performances online to enjoy KWE as if they were there.
KWE! Meet with Indigenous Peoples has become a tradition in Quebec City and attracts visitors from all over the world, whether it be during the physical or online events like it was the case in 2021. The success of the event is based on the participation of the public in large numbers through the KWE Facebook page and the website.
PRESS CONFERENCE
The press conference to launch KWE 2021 program was held on June 1, 2021, and was streamed live on the KWE Facebook page.
The guests who took part in this virtual press conference were Ghislain Picard, President of KWE! For this hybrid edition, only guests were invited to attend the opening ceremony due to the pandemic. The official opening of KWE 2021 took place on Monday, June 18 at 1:00 p.m. and was broadcast live on the KWE Facebook page.

PUAMUN MESHKENU WALK
For this new edition, the KWE organization has partnered with Puamun Meshkenu, the Path of a Thousand Dreams, to hold the walk led by Dr. Stanley Vollant.
This walk is an opportunity for people to meet, get to know each other, share and listen to each other in order to live better together. With the events of the past year, this walk shows solidarity with the First Nations and a desire to build a country where all children aspire to develop their potential and realize their dreams.
IN MEMORY OF MISSING CHILDREN
Due to the horrifying discoveries of hundreds of graves of missing children in Indian residential schools, the AFNQL has invited the entire population to a walk and a vigil in their memory as well as for the survivors and their descendants
For the occasion, close to 3,000 participants gathered for the start of the walk. The walk lasted approximately 30 to 40 minutes and covered a distance of 1.3 km.
The walk was broadcast live on the AFNQL's Facebook page.
Les arches de l’entente
The press conference for the inauguration of Ludovic Boney's work, Les arches de l'entente, took place in the lobby of the Museum of Civilization on National Indigenous Peoples Day, June 21, 2021.
The ceremony ended with the unveiling of the official plaque describing Les arches de l'entente with Ludovic Boney (the Huron-Wendat artist and creator of the piece) and Stéphane Laroche (President and CEO of the Musée de la civilisation).
SKODEN
On December 29, 2021, KWE partnered with L'ANTI Bar and Spectacles de Québec, to offer a virtual show thanks to funding from MusicAction.
The show, entitled "SKODEN" (which means "Let's go then" in jargon) featured Mi'gmaq artist from Gesgepegiag Q052 accompanied by DJ Nokturn, hip-hop artist Dan L'Initié from the Huron Nation- wendat as well as Sensei H, a rising hip-hop artist in Quebec.
Know-How Capsules
For the pleasure of food lovers, virtual capsules on the preparation and cooking of traditional foods were presented to the KWE audience on digital platforms. Capsules were posted to allow the public to learn the basics of making objects using Indigenous materials.
Virtual shows
On National Indigenous Peoples' Day, June 21, the public was able to watch live performances by Indigenous artists on KWE's Facebook page and YouTube channel, where the artists gave lively performances to the delight of the many viewers who came out to cheer on these renowned artists.
