KWE 2019

The third edition of the event took place from August 30 to September 2, 2019, at the Place de l'Assemblée-Nationale in Quebec City.

The event KWE! Meet with the Indigenous Peoples’ aims to put the light on the 11 Indigenous Nations present in Quebec, on the territory of the Huron-Wendat Nation, through artistic and musical performances, workshops on traditional knowledge, discussions on the issues and realities that affect the Indigenous communities and Nations in Quebec, a cultural crossroads as well as several spaces that allow for a rapprochement between peoples with the objective of promoting reconciliation.

In order to overcome certain shortcomings in accessing the various financial resources available from governmental and paragovernmental bodies as well as from various sponsors, KWE! Meet with Indigenous Peoples is now registered as a non-profit organization (NPO). It is under this legal form that the 2019 edition has been organized, also counting on various partnerships, collaborators and supports.

The press conference to launch the KWE 2019 program was held on June 19, 2019, and was streamed live on the KWE Facebook page.

The guests who took part in this press conference were the Grand Chief of the Huron-Wendat Nation, Conrad Sioui, Dr. Stanley Vollant, spokesperson for the event, Marie-Josée Savard, city councillor and VP executive committee of Quebec City, Vivianne Michel, president of Native Women of Quebec and Jean-Claude Therrien Pinette of the Assembly of First Nations Quebec-Labrador.
