KWE 2017

KWE! Meet with Indigenous Peoples is an event that took place from September 1 to 3, 2017 at the Place de l'Assemblée-Nationale in Quebec City.

This awareness event aimed to highlight the 11 Indigenous Nations in Quebec through cultural and musical performances, workshops on traditional knowledge, tastings of culinary specialties, discussions to learn more about the issues affecting Indigenous communities, a tourism hub and more.

The event was organized in partnership by the Assembly of First Nations Quebec-Labrador, the Huron-Wendat Nation Council, host nation of the event, and Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada.

For all the activities carried out, the event's organizing committee provided supervision and guidance for the activities. The technical direction as well as the design and supervision of the site were ensured by MAG direction (Marc-André Gosselin and his team).

The press conference to launch KWE 2017 program was held on August 29, 2017, and was streamed live on the KWE Facebook page.

Guests who took part in this virtual press conference were Luc Dumont, Regional General Manager for Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada, Ghislain Picard, President of KWE! Meet with Indigenous Peoples and Chief of the Assembly of First Nations Quebec-Labrador, Dr. Stanley Vollant, spokesperson for the event and the Grand Chief of the Huron-Wendat Nation, Conrad Sioui.
